Chlorella is a ubiquitous, single-celled green algae from the genus Chlorella in the phylum Chlorophyta. It is a highly efficient photosynthetic plant that grows and reproduces photosynthetically and is widely distributed. Individuals are rare in nature, but can be cultivated in large numbers.
